How many bottles would you store? How many in the refrigerators in the backbar?
We were thinking carrying maybe 10-15 different red and whites, 2-3 different roses, 3-5 different champagnes, 3 beers on tap, and 8 different bottles, with 5-7 different sodas/juices.

But how many of each should we keep in the storage? How many in the refrigerators by the bar?

Thanks

step 2: Ban affliction, ed hardy, tapout, and ufc shirts. Why? It is the outfit of D-bags.

step 3. Girly drink specials and girly draft beers on draft. Free drinks on the bar for girls throughout the night.

Step 4: Throwing out d-bags harrassing a woman that is part of a couple. They appreciate this x10.

Step 5: have a "Ladies drink free" night on a sunday or monday to attract NEW female clientele. Have the best bartender on that night and invite them to come see them on the weekend! they WILL bring friends! Remember, a slow night can be one giant INFOMERCIAL for your bar! Sure you may not be making a ton of money on ladies drink free and sure you are counting on the bartender to sell shots to desperate dudes, but it works! try it.

I have seen the number of hot, classy women explode at my bar in the past year. A way better clientele comes in now that we have banned douchebags and ed hardy kids.

Guys, a quick question about ASCAP license agreement and payment terms.

We have been opened about a year and never approached for licensing until recently this August. On August 10th, ASCAP sent me a certified letter with a license agreement. I reviewed the agreement and sent my ASCAP rep an email stating her numbers were way off... I am assuming they have never visited and guessed based on averages in the area.

Anyway, after a week of back and forth emails, which I personally had to verify, they lowered the license fee about 66%.

Now they are requesting payment in full. Although I do not like the added expense to my overhead, I agree that the fees are due and fair. I informed my friendly ASCAP contact that we could not pay the amount in full and would like a payment plan (who knows if we will be open in 6 months).

My contact originally refused and again we went back and forth in emails. I pointed out the Terms of the Agreement state I could pay quarterly. She eventually agreed, but then made up her own payment schedule which conflicted with what was stated in the T&C’s.

Obviously, I was getting a little annoyed… Some of the other issues are below:

1. The ASCAP License or Agreement does not state how quarterly periods are defined (Calendar year, fiscal year, start of the signed agreement, etc).
2. The Commencement Date on the Contract is a few months prior to them every contacting me.
3. There are no other options for payment of the money

So my questions, if anyone can help.

1. Has anyone tried to get ASCAP to agree to a fairer payment schedule? As I mentioned earlier, times are tuff and who knows if we will be open in the 6 months.
2. Has anyone questioned or successfully argued that the offered payment terms do not explicitly define what is considered quarterly?
3. Has anyone had experience with the ASCAP rep making up their own payment terms which are obviously different than the ones in the agreement.

I questioned all of this with ASCAP and told them I agree with the price, but I will not pay until all of this agreed to and in writing. This was end of last week… Yesterday AM, they sent me another certified letter. Any comments would be appreciated.

Thanks,

I do have an air conditioner in my building... it cannot keep up... for instance tonight we set at 72, but it wouldn't have mattered if we had set it to 50, then end result was it simply could not keep up and the temperature got up to 84 in the bar.

I noticed my back mirror was fogged completely over. Could this be from the cool air from the a/c and the warm air in the room?

I have 11.5 foot ceilings... roungly 2800 square feet I believe. I have never had this happen in my 4years of ownership.

We are using a simple cash register at this point because I dont want to fork out over $1000 for a POS system. We use 4 keys to ring up sales. Beer, Wine, Liquor, Misc(soda, snacks).

Hello everyone, I am new to the forums. I am in desperate need of some sound advice from some of the experts around here. I have been trying to buy an existing bar and having very difficult time with the due diligence. The accountant that I hired to do this for me has been of no help at all. Here are some of the details:
Approx. 2000 sq. feet @ $1200.00 a month triple net lease 5 years with option to renew w/right of first refusal. Bar at this location for 50 years, current owner 7 years.
Sale price of $180,000 with $40,000 down and $140,000 over 7 years @ 7% simple interest.
It averages about $30,000 a month is sales. 65% Bar, 35% food.
Last years tax returns show around $350,000 in gross sales with a COGS of around $200,000.
No salary to the owner.
After all of the other deductions, which all look typical to me. They show a loss of around $4000
They imply that they make around $60,000 a year but can not prove it do to obvious reasons. I would like to believe that the must be true because the COGS seems way to high to me. However they are very reluctant to share any information or documents with me. I was able to view 2 years tax returns (both showing about what I described), 3 months income statement, 1 month balance sheet, and 1 month bank statement. Everything that they show me has been consistent with what I have described above. They were VERY RELUCTANT to show me the z-tapes and now that I have asked to see 1 full month of purchase invoices, they told the broker that they are not going to show me anything else and I am not allowed to talk to them or there accountant anymore. They said I can either buy it or not buy it, but there are not going to show me anything else.
I have been to the bar many times, it is always pretty busy compared to the local competition, just a small working mans bar that has been there for a long time. I personally would like to think that there is some money to be made here. But because of the way they do their financials and the way they are handling not wanting to show me anything for due diligence, I am seriously thinking that a may have to decline to buy the bar, event though I really like everything else about it.
I would like to think that they are afraid to reveal how much they make due to tax purposes, but I am also worried that they are afraid that I will find out how much that they don't make, and not buy the business at the price they want because it is not as profitable as they imply.
The broker and the seller are impatient for an answer, which only makes me more resentful and reluctant to move forward.
<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />
Can someone please share some of there wisdom and experience with me?
